Software Engineer, Core Services

As an engineer on the Core Services team, you are responsible for building and owning multiple tier 0-1 services such as async job scheduling framework, user service, pin and board, friends, and more. Our mission is to build systems that are not only highly scalable, performant, and reliable, but also a delight to use. Our systems enable our product engineers to move fast and build awesome features rapidly on top of them.

What You’ll Do :
  • Design and create solutions to serve ever growing traffic needs on Pinterest
  • Work closely with storage frameworks and administrators to come up with scalable storage of your data
  • Own tier 0 services of Pinterest and responsible for improving operability, scalability, efficiency, performance, and reliability
  • Open source inbuilt job scheduling framework and make it usable for open source communities  
  • Create solutions for our job scheduling framework that will work for any type of jobs (offline vs online, short vs long, time-critical vs long running)
What we’re looking for :
  • Deep expertise on large-scale, distributed backend systems at consumer Internet scale
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally with product and storage SRE/DBA teams
  • Fluent in Java, C/C++, and/or Python
  • Good communication skills and an excellent team player showing ownership ability
