Software Engineer, Ads Data

Pinterest is one of the fastest growing online advertising platforms, and our continued success depends on our ability to generate reliable, accurate, real-time data to advertisers, business analysts, and Ads Serving systems, and empower these internal/external use cases to make critical decisions based on real-time data. We’re looking for engineers with experience and a passion in Real-Time Data Warehouse and Data Engineering to build the next-generation Ads Data system that will operate at 100x our current scale within a fraction of our current latency. You’ll be joining a small and early-stage team, building a new Data system from scratch, and laying the foundation for Pinterest’s business success.

What you’ll do :
  • Build next-generation real-time, scalable, fault-tolerant ads reporting and analytics systems using the latest open-source technologies to process terabytes of data with minute-scale pipeline delay to deliver key performance metrics to advertisers with millisecond-scale query latency
  • Build end-to-end real-time Ads Data Warehouse to power hundreds of business-critical raw and derived data sets for key external and internal business use cases
  • Build next-generation online data systems to power numerous critical Ads Serving use cases ranging from real-time budgeting, real-time counting features, and online ML training
  • Provide thought leadership to the entire Ads Engineering organization on how data can be processed more efficiently, scalably, reliably, and quickly
What we’re looking for :
  • 3+ years of experience with Data Warehouse and open-source Big Data technologies
  • Experience building real-time or offline Data pipelines to process petabytes of data for business-critical use case
  • Experience building large-scale distributed online Analytics system to support high volume and low latency
  • Experience with Spark, Hive, Hadoop, SQL, Kafka, Parquet, HDFS, HBase, Druid
  • Proficiency in multiple systems languages (Java, Scala)
