Software Engineer, Anti-Abuse

As an engineer on Pinterest’s small but rapidly growing Protect team, you will build systems to detect and prevent spam in real-time and at big data scale. These systems will process billions of events from our 250+ million active users to enable a trustworthy experience on Pinterest. Millions of people around the world use Pinterest to discover and do what they love, and our job is to protect them from abuse and harmful content.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and debug real-time distributed systems
  • Develop systems and tools to support analysts and agents in identifying and mitigating objectionable content
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop and integrate solutions to their unique spam problems
  • Collaborate with data analysts to discover and mitigate new fraud and abuse patterns

What we’re looking for:

  • CS degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience programming in Python, Elixir or Java
  • Experience with batch processing or stream processing systems (e.g. Hadoop, Spark)
  • Ability to clearly articulate design decisions and engage closely with other teams
  • Experienced in building systems to detect spam, fraud or related domains is a plus
